Recovery Stories: Helen's ME recovery story
"Thank you so much for giving me the key to change my long-term health issues into success.
What an amazing 13 days it's been. From December 1981 being struck down by glandular fever to April 2007 I had to go on a very long journey through ME, now I have begun my new life without M.E, and I would like to share with you some of my early successes.
Day one.
Just being in close proximity to other people in the seminar for a prolonged period, followed by having lunch at the cafe with two other participants, was a real success for me. Being able to stay focused and calm in these kinds of environments, being able to concentrate on the menu make a choice, and to converse with more than one person at a time was also a major event and success for me as it has been almost impossible for me to do that in the past few decades.
I also walked for over a mile around the busy streets of London after having done the four hour seminar, I hadn't been able to walk that far for many years.
I was also to sit in a room with a laptop and the projector which due to the electromagnetic(EM) radiation I would never have been able to have done before.
Day two.
So many more successes walking even further, being even more focused, taking a trip to Central London, sitting on the steps of Piccadilly circus, with all the noise, traffic and EM radiation, and being able to really enjoy myself.
Day three.
Meeting up with my daughter and a cafe at busy Euston station, and talking with her for one and a half hours.
Staying calm when there were no seats available on the train back from Euston to Lancaster and having the energy and focus to chat with fellow passengers all the way home.
Since the then that there are so many things I have done.
Driving (over 50 minutes in one go), visiting with friends, dancing, fixing and mending things (even things above my own head height, I previously found raising my arms above my head very difficult),walking for miles, playing the paino (learning new pieces),baking, dealing with "difficult" people and staying calm, using the photocopier, and a computer at the library, arranging a start date for taking on a helping job at a local school.
I am so thankful I heard about the Lightning Process, and want to thank Phil from the bottom of my heart for have sharing his knowledge, insight, understanding and experience in teaching me how to be well.
Thank you -too such small words in response to the enormity of all you've done for me.
Having written these two little words in the above paragraph they looked too small for how I feel.
So I got in the car and drove to the highest point in the area. I walked and climbed for about 10 minutes and at the highest point with only the sheep and the calling curlews to hear me, I shouted at the top of my voice "Thank you Phil Parker"(down towards the tower at Blackpool on the horizon),"Thank you Phil Parker"(across to the sea at Morecambe bay ) "Thank you Phil Parker"(up to the hills of the lake district and just visible in the rain clouds) "Thank you Phil Parker"(across to the hills of the lune valley)"Thank you Phil Parker"(to the closeby hills in the forest of Bowland ) .
Now the words on the page still looks small, but they are filled with a great deal of energy.
With love and best wishes"
Helen
