Recovery Stories: Katie Strickland

My name is Katie Strickland and I am 10 years old. I have had Chronic Fatigue since January 2008.

I could hardly walk - at my worst, my mum had to carry me to the toilet. I was tired all of the time and I got pains in lots of different parts of my body. I could not get dressed myself or do my own hair.

I did not like going outside - I felt frightened.

I did not like noise and could not concentrate on things.

I was miserable, could not go to school or see my friends and I spent 4 weeks in hospital.

In March I did the Lightning Process with Helen James from Bury in Manchester.

I immediately improved and during the Easter holidays I went on holiday to Cyprus, going swimming and site seeing etc.

At half term I went to London and I have been to the Lake District for 2 weekends. I even managed to do Go Ape.

I am doing a bit more school each week. Last week I did 3 full days and 2 half days. I will be going full time for the last week before summer. I am also doing the school show.

I have been to the cinema with my friends, I did a coffee morning to raise money for AYME (The Association for Young People with M.E.) and I have been shopping in town.

I go on the trampoline in my back garden and have joined a trampoline class.

I have also started drama classes.

I would recomend the lightning process to anybody.
