Recovery Stories: Beth's ME recovery story
Hello,
I did the Lightning Process for ME in December '06. You said let you know what we got up to.
I've been so busy it's taken a while!
But I went back to Devon where I got my first ever job, I then got a second job on top of that. After working two jobs for about 4 months I went to America. I spent 9 weeks working on a camp for people with special needs. This meant working 80-100 hours per week, plus sleeping in with campers so being up in the night to care for them.
I then travelled 4,500 miles from LA to New York in a minibus with 10 people and five tents. It was an amazing experience.
I am now two weeks into an occupational therapy degree and loving it, keeping up with all the students around me. I'm fatter, fitter and healthy!
If you want some background.... I had had moderate to severe ME for six years (aged 13-19) following septicaemia and toxic shock syndrome. I had spent most of this time under the care of consultants, physios, dieticians etc. They did everything from hospitalise me to send me back to school. This had some positive and negative effects on my ME, but with the Lightning Process in three days I was better forever.
